Thursday, March 30 noon marks the start of the annual Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival (VCBF) at Cherry Jam Downtown inside Burrard SkyTrain Station.
Christ Church Cathedral’ new bell tower will toll the start of this joyous springtime tradition, bringing us all together in collective awe of the beautiful displays of our 43,000 flowering cherry trees that will come into bloom across the city.
From noon to 1:30pm under Burrard Station’s iconic cherry blossom canopy take a break and enjoy exciting free performances by local talent such as Uzume Taiko in collaboration with South Asian Arts, Son de Maple band formed by Tom Landa of Locarno will play Mexican Son Jarocho and other Latin music idioms, and the ebullient founding conductor Clyde Mitchell leads Lions Gate Sinfonia Brass Sextet with West End Chamber Choir sharing his passion for music with Cherry Jam audiences.
