The ‘just-how-long-has-it-been-since-we’ve-done-this?’ downtown New Year’s Eve celebration takes place on December 31 starting at 6pm at the downtown waterfront and runs till about 12:20am with plenty to do at this family friendly event. Note: ‘family friendly’ doesn’t mean boring for the older kids and adults – really!
102.7 The PEAK Stage
Come down to the 102.7 The PEAK Stage at Canada Place Way for over six hours of free family-friendly performances. Programming starts at 6 p.m. and ends at midnight with the countdown to the fireworks.
The performances will celebrate the seventh and final year of The PEAK FM’s PEAK Performance Project, a program that has launched the career of a number of Vancouver musicians. The artist lineup for the 102.7 The PEAK Stage features the 2015 winner, headliner Current Swell, former winner We Are The City, The Matinee and more. A full schedule of artists and performances will be released at a later date.
If you have young children who sleep early, celebrating New Year’s Eve at midnight can often be challenging. Coinciding with the East Coast’s midnight countdown, the Early Eve countdown at NYE Vancouver will allow families with kids to enjoy and embrace the New Year’s Eve events and atmosphere. Early Eve, held at the 102.7 The PEAK Stage, concludes at 9 p.m. with a short burst of fireworks from the offshore barge.
Midnight Countdown Fireworks presented by WestPark
Vancouver will welcome 2016 in spectacular fashion with a high-aerial fireworks display, synchronized to music, launched from a barge in the middle of Coal Harbour. The pyrotechnic display begins at the stroke of midnight.
