Cultivating Cathedral Square

Jul 10, 2017

At the intersection of Richards St. and Dunsmuir St., and facing the majestic Holy Rosary Cathedral, Cathedral Square is an open and inviting urban park. It’s a favourite for local office workers who take advantage of our Perch program to enjoy their lunch. And the park just got a little bit sweeter!
Remember when we told that that bee hives were coming? Well, they’re here, and you have the opportunity to see them up close and personal. While the bees are kept in a protected area, local non-profit Hives for Humanity will be hosting Hands-On Beekeeping workshops on Friday, July 21 and Friday, August 4, from noon until 1:00pm. This is your chance to discover the wonder of the honey bee!

This initiative in Cathedral Square, in addition to our Perch program across the city, support our goal to improve community experience well-being by leveraging community assets in downtown Vancouver.
We ultimately want to bring ecologically and socially beneficial activities to the downtown core that can offer people the opportunity to connect with nature, as well as each other.
