Kickstart Vancouver’s Next Activated Alleyway

Jun 13, 2017

Last year, we partnered with HCMA Architecture + Design and the City of Vancouver to bring you Vancouver’s first More Awesome Now activated laneway, Alley-Oop. We transformed a utilitarian service corridor into a bright, playful public space that people have enthusiastically embraced!

What’s next?

We’re doing it again. But this time, we need your help. We’re looking to you to support our Kickstarter campaign to secure a new sound and light art installation for Ackery’s Alley in Vancouver’s Entertainment District.
Located behind the Orpheum Theatre, Ackery’s Alley will be a space for public art and performance just off of Granville Street. The alley will be home to an interactive art installation called FIELD, by renowned international artist, Alex Beim.

Beim’s FIELD will have sensors and lights that create an immersive social experience, allowing people to play a three dimensional instrument using their body movements. Ultimately, the space will aim to foster connection through participation, and be a place where you will want to visit again and again. Excited yet? We are, but we need you to help make this happen.

So what are we asking?

It’s time for some real talk. We need your support to help secure and install FIELD. Specifically, we’re asking that you consider backing our $35,000 Kickstarter campaign, so we can build the most awesome part of the alley—the sound and light field. In exchange, you’ll receive some incredible rewards. Not only that, you’ll be able to point to a piece of public art in Vancouver and say, “I did that! I made that happen. That’s mine!”

We can’t wait to bring this project to life, but we can’t do it without you.
