Loss Prevention Program Evolving

Oct 26, 2016

Due to the changing landscape of crime in Downtown Vancouver and as the BIA looks towards developing a new 5-year Strategic Plan, the DVBIA Board of Directors has decided to evolve the Loss Prevention Program into a Community Safety Team.

The Loss Prevention Program will be discontinued as is on Wednesday October 26, 11:00am. During the transition, we’ll be available to answer questions and to direct you to security services to assist with your loss prevention needs.A reminder to direct staff to call the VPD at 911 for all of your immediate emergency concerns

This decision to evolve the program has been made with careful consideration.  The LPT has served DVBIA members, such as your business, unchanged over the last 16 years. But, crimes have become more dangerous, with weapons appearing more often, and criminals more desperate during arrests.

A Membership Survey conducted in September 2016 indicated that cleanliness (76%) and safety (68%) are still at the top of our members’ priorities. We are still committed to these goals.

If you have questions about transitioning, please contact Ivy Haisell, Member Services Manager at
