TaiwanFest Hits Granville

Head down to Granville Street this Labour Day long weekend, September 5th to 7th, to take part in TAIWANfest. TAIWANfest is your chance to experience, imagine, learn, share and enjoy Canada's cultural diversity. Here are a few reasons you don't want to miss this year’s festival!

Film: After spending almost 10 years in Taiwan, Scott Weatherall, a Canadian indie film director, returns home to screen his first feature film "Formosa Boulevard" ( at TAIWANfest. Additionally, Taiwanese film director Mark Ang, will bring his award-winning film "Replace" and some animation and short films from emerging Taiwanese talents to this year’s festival.
Dance: Named as one of the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s five must-see dances, “Eggs of Blessings,” is a heart-warming piece by the Taiwan Jade Dance Theatre.
Fashion: Taiwanese designer, known simply as Andre, may have quite school at age 13, but that hasn’t held him back. Andre's storied journey led him to be one of the fashion world’s shining stars. Don’t miss a rare exhibit of his work at this year’s festival.

Arts & Crafts: “The Art of Seating,” a collection of 8 bamboo chairs, will provide a glimpse of the green furniture future currently afoot in Taiwan.
Music: TAIWANfest is excited to feature Mandopop's top EDM bands, Magic Power and ECHO (that’s mandarin popular music and electronic dance music for those less familiar), as well as Taiwanese Brit-pop band “and Whatband.”
Culinary: A hallmark of TAIWANfest, this year’s festival wouldn’t be complete without some delicious Taiwanese street food. Make sure you come down to Granville Street to sample this year’s fare!
