Summer means VIVA Vancouver downtown – and bus route changes.
Plan your transit trip: starting June 23 the 800 block of Robson Street between Howe and Hornby Streets will be closed to traffic. The No. 5 (Robson/Downtown) bus will operate via Burrard and Pender Streets.
And, the No. 6 (Davie/Downtown) bus will be re-routed off Granville Street after 9pm on Fridays and all day weekends and holidays. This is to both turn the street over to VIVA Vancouver activities – think dancing, hoola hoops, markets, music and more – and night-time street closures by Vancouver Police in the Entertainment District. No. 6 buses are re-routed to Howe and Seymour Streets one block over to the East and West.
Swim the Reef starting the weekend of June 28 in the 800 block of Robson Street. The Urban Reef is a cool sculpture that invites people to sit, relax, and play. The shape is a series of sections that morph into one another to create a dynamic form that sparks curiosity and invites exploration. The design was created by Kaz Bemner, Jeremiah Deutscher, Michael Siy and Kenneth Navarra – a team of local architects, designers and carpenters. It’ll be on the street through Labour Day (September 1).
