Crime Prevention Services

Since 1998 the DVBIA has had a dedicated staff person responsible for Crime Prevention Services. The Consultant, Crime Prevention Services, oversees the Downtown Ambassadors® Program, the Loss Prevention Team Program and numerous other initiatives outlined below.

Crime Prevention Seminars
Seminars by institutional experts address topical issues such as personal, office and vehicle safety, counterfeit currency, credit card fraud, internal theft, refund scams, shoplifting and telemarketing scams and are offered at no charge to members.

Security Audits
Security Audits are arranged by appointment with the Consultant, Crime Prevention Services, who provides guidance to business people (building owners, office and retail tenants) on methods of preventing crime before it occurs. This is often referred to as target hardening. These audits address weak areas where business people can strengthen their security policies to provide a safe and secure environment. Common concerns include external and internal security parameters, theft and break-and-enter activity. This is a pro-active approach to reducing criminal activity that targets businesses and retailers.

Training Sessions
Training sessions are arranged by appointment with the Consultant, Crime Prevention Services, who tailors a session to specifically address the needs and concerns of individual businesses who are concerned with safety and security of their premises, employees or location.
