Our Land, Our Roots
Located at 401 W. Georgia Street.
This mosaic, designed by Bruce Walther, demonstrates the importance of our plentiful natural resources and how they have shaped industry and our city. Front and centre stands the iconic lumberjack and emblem represented on Vancouver’s Coat of Arms used from 1903 – 1969. Its motto was “By land and sea we prosper”. The background of the tile is a tribute to BC artist Sybil Andrew’s Hauling piece from the 1950’s, depicting motion and vitality in the spirit of one of British Columbia’s most active resource industries.
